What types of records can I request? 

The City is custodian of City of Sedona records only. We do not create or maintain records for other agencies or jurisdictions. For birth or death records, please contact the Vital Records Department of the appropriate county. For deeds or other property records, please contact the appropriate County Recorder’s office. For property tax records, please contact your County Treasurer’s office. For marriage records, contact the county superior court that issued the original marriage license. For fire records, please contact the Sedona Fire District. Requests for public records must be for records that exist. The City cannot create new records in response to requests for information.  

What is the date range of records held by the City of Sedona?  

The City of Sedona incorporated on January 4th 1988. City records begin from this date. Prior to this date, the area was the jurisdictions of Coconino and Yavapai Counties. You may wish to contact them for records prior to January 4, 1988. 

What charges may be associated with obtaining City of Sedona Police Department records? 

The cost for copies of Police Records request are as follows:

■ $10.00 per Police Report up to 20 pages; plus $0.25 per page over 20 pages

■ $8.00 per Accident Report up to 20 pages; plus $0.25 per page over 20 pages

■ $25.00 Minimum & $25.00 per hour after 1st hour per Audio/Video/Body Cam

■ $15.00 per CD or USB

■ $15.00 per hour Data Analysis Reports

Note: If it appears from your request that the cost of reproducing documents or electronic copies will be more than $25.00, the City will submit an estimate of such costs and will require payment prior to producing the requested documents. Upon fulfilling your request, the City will calculate the actual cost of the requested documents and will either reimburse you for overages paid or will require full payment of the balance before releasing the releasing the requested documents.
